Our Training Services
OUR TRAINING
At the Jade L Roberts Project, we offer training in addition to our counselling and intervention services. We run SafeTALK and ASIST training services, the two foremost methods of suicide prevention and risk assessment, conducted by our directors, Tracey Roberts, a qualified psychotherapist, and Jack Roberts, the youngest trainer of these methods in the world. We offer these training services monthly for applicants to come in and receive a full training course, certificate and qualification for the respective qualifications.
Our training services are available to any individuals who wish to partake, including volunteers, trainee counsellors and any other people who may wish to develop skills in suicide prevention and risk assessments. Further, we offer our services to other community organisations, charities and companies that may wish to develop such skills to assist in the running of their services or businesses. We would also like to extend our training to schools, businesses and any other groups that may wish to develop skills and knowledge in suicide prevention. We are happy to be flexible in our location and attend your premises to deliver the training if preferable.
SafeTALK TRAINING
SafeTALK is a face to face half-day training program, designed to teach people how to respond effectively if someone is experiencing suicidal thoughts through the straightforward TALK approach. The 'safe' of safeTALK stands for 'suicide alertness for everyone'. The 'TALK' letters stand for the practice actions that one does to help those with thoughts of suicide: Tell, Ask, Listen, and KeepSafe. This is available to participants aged 16 and over. Each session requires a minimum of 10 and maximum of 30 participants.
SafeTALK training takes place over a half-day at our premises, 109 Rocky Lane, Liverpool, L6 4BB, but can be moved to a separate location for organisations, charities and businesses if preferable. The training includes:
Participants will learn the practice actions: Tell, Ask, Listen and KeepSafe.
Participants will be able to recognise when people are thinking of suicide and will have the skills to provide further support to ensure their safety from suicide until further assistance can be given.
Participants will learn why suicide is missed, dismissed and avoided.
SafeTALK training costs £70 for the session, at the end of which training will be complete.
ASIST TRAINING
ASIST training is a two-day course in which you will be taught how to safely conduct suicide interventions and risk assessments. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training involves an education on intervention and assessment skills and practical application of these skills through workshops, scenarios and questions. At the end of the two day course, you will be given a certificate to mark your completion and qualification in ASIST training, the highest form of suicide intervention training possible.
ASIST training carries as cost of £195 for the two-day course, at the end of which your training will be complete.
We aim to run this course on the last Monday and Tuesday of every month.
This training is available to anyone aged 16 or over and requires a minimum of 10 participants to run, with a maximum of 30 participants.
