Our Training Services

OUR TRAINING

At the Jade L Roberts Project we run SafeTALK and ASIST training,. Suicide can touch anyone- and yet, many of us arent sure what to say or do when someone might be at risk. .. Livingworks ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) gives you the confidence, knowledge and practical tools to intervene when it matters most. You dont need to be a counsellor or mental health professional - just someone whos willing to care, to listen and to take action.

ASIST is for everyone ( over the age of 16) The Jade L Roberts Project aims to train as many varied professionals and members of the community including emergency services, counsellors, teaches, mental health staff and parents.. . Further, we offer our services to other community organisations, charities and companies that may wish to develop such skills to assist in the running of their services or businesses. We would also like to extend our training to schools, businesses and any other groups that may wish to develop skills and knowledge in suicide prevention. We are happy to be flexible in our location and attend your premises to deliver the training if preferable.

SafeTALK TRAINING

SafeTALK is a face to face half-day training program, designed to teach people how to respond effectively if someone is experiencing suicidal thoughts through the straightforward TALK approach. The 'safe' of safeTALK stands for 'suicide alertness for everyone'. The 'TALK' letters stand for the practice actions that one does to help those with thoughts of suicide: Tell, Ask, Listen, and KeepSafe. This is available to participants aged 16 and over. Each session requires a minimum of 10 and maximum of 30 participants.

SafeTALK training takes place over a half-day at our premises, 109 Rocky Lane, Liverpool, L6 4BB, but can be moved to a separate location for organisations, charities and businesses if preferable. The training includes:

  • Participants will learn the practice actions: Tell, Ask, Listen and KeepSafe.

  • Participants will be able to recognise when people are thinking of suicide and will have the skills to provide further support to ensure their safety from suicide until further assistance can be given.

  • Participants will learn why suicide is missed, dismissed and avoided.

SafeTALK training costs £70 per person

ASIST TRAINING

ASIST training is a two-day workshop that prepares caregivers to provide suicide first aid interventions. ASIST trains participants to reduce the immediate risk of suicide and increase the support for a person at risk.. The workshop helps participants recognise what a person at risk may need from others in order to keep safe and get help. As an ASIST trained first aid intervention caregiver you will be better able to:

Identify people who have thoughts of suicide

Seek a shared understanding of the reasons for thoughts of suicide and the reasons for living

Review current risk and develop a plan to increase safety from suicidal behaviour

Recognise invitations for help

ASIST training carries as cost of £195 for the two-day course, at the end of which your training will be complete.

We aim to run this course on the last Monday and Tuesday of every month.

This training requires a minimum of 10 participants to run, with a maximum of 30 participants.
